I was told about the goal vs process the other day. It does make sense. I obsess over the goal and forget that the goal can be met while not sacrificing my families quality of life. What a unique way to approach a couple of things that I'd like to do without sacrificing the one thing that I'd love to do.

People evolve to view goals on different levels. The unconscious mind has its own plans based on a wide understanding of the universal energies. That is, it pays to remind human beings goals themselves are not necesarily bad, (since good and bad labels are themselves illusions). Yet, the human tools and ego used to define, interpret and pursue self-interested "goals" does not serve energy beings in the bigger picture. Every being is already somewhere. Nothing comes form nowhere. To remind the self what it means to be present is a deep-soul-level goal that serves all who reconnect. This formless experience is immeasurable, imperceptible and indescribable, but it still is.

Carmelle,

Exactly. And think of how much time you spend on the way vs. at the finish line. We ought to prioritize based on how much time we spend in a certain place, as life is made up of time.

That's true, though, what you're saying about being too result-oriented that people forget about the journey, the process, itself because all the while their eyes are set on the finish line and so they fail to notice and acknowledge what's happening around them.

Hi Carmelle,

Thanks, and welcome to OBV! Indeed, I think we all are entitled to our unique ways, and I think some people need to set rigid goals and commit themselves to achieving them. Here, I was talking more about life's bigger goals for people who lean toward too goal-oriented, or result-oriented. That's the attitude I commonly find in corporate world -- because everything is about results. So I thought it a nice reminder to say that life is about journey, and results are nothing but milestones along the way.

Wow! This is new and different. A new look at an important part of our life. I believe we are all entitled to how we live our lives. Some people need to have goals to see themselves as being; to some people setting goals is being not just doing...
